Support for Patients Needing Palliative Care

Calling all Volunteers

DO YOU HAVE a life limiting illness or care for someone with a life limiting illness either now or in the past? If you can answer yes to any of these questions, we would like to hear from you.
We are currently compiling a directory of services for the whole of Tayside which offers advice, care or support to patients, carers and families with palliative care needs.
Palliative care is the term used to describe the care given to anyone with a progressive illness.

This could be cancer, HIV/Aids, dementia, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, heart disease, lung disease etc.
To improve access to information for all patients and carers, we would like to know more about their experiences when trying to find information. We would like to know what sort of service or support is useful - whether it is physical, emotional, spiritual, or financial. It would be particularly helpful to hear the views of people living in rural areas or those from an ethnic background.

Focus groups
Deborah Thompson, Project Manager said: “We are holding Focus Groups for patients/ relatives/carers which will consist of groups of 8 – 10 people. If you would like to be to be involved in one of these groups it would mean attendance at a one-off meeting, for approximately 1 hour. You would answer questions about how easy it was for you to access information and give your opinions on the information you would like to be included in the booklet.”
This is a Big Lottery funded project and responses will be confidential with the feedback will be used to determine the format of the booklet. Dates, times and venues will be arranged to suit you and transport costs will be refunded.
