FEET TREAT!
by Lynne and Sarah Dark of Zest Health & Beauty
Spare a thought for your often neglected feet, hidden away during winter months, squashed into boots and shoes, never seeing the light of day and then with thoughts of summer just around the corner – help, we need them to look good in revealing little sandals. Of course, it would be great if they had been taken care of through the year and had a little attention regularly, we would be ready for them to face the world! Generally, a quick fix is the order of the day and here it is!
First, soak tired feet for 15 minutes in a basin of comfortably hot water – add a few drops of almond oil and lavender, peppermint or rosemary oil if you have it. Hard skin on the heels and ball of the foot can be most unsightly and uncomfortable too, so now get to work with a foot file or pumice stone working particularly on those areas. Then apply a good moisturising cream or lotion over the feet, massaging it in well using sweeping movements from toes to ankle – massaging the feet relieves aches and relaxes feet. |

A good foot massage improves blood circulation, improving their overall health and is so good if you suffer from cold feet! Daily use of a nourishing cream on the soles and heels keeps them soft and less likely to have hard dry skin build-up. Friction is a major cause of hard skin – its natural defence from damage when we all walked in bare feet and needed thickened skin! If you particularly suffer from hard skin, keep bare feet and sandals to a minimum as these are the worst culprits.
Always trim toe nails straight across to prevent ingrown toenails and use a file for any rough edges. Keep cuticles soft –use a cuticle cream and push back gently with an orange stick. They are then ready for a coat of polish for the finishing touch, if you like it, and voila – they are ready to face their public!
Regular professional pedicure will keep feet healthy, feeling good, and looking great!
